For consideration is this rare, circa 1898 English oak butter tray complete with an antique blue and white transferware Butter dish by Taylor Tunnicliffe. Taylor Tunnicliffe is one of the very, very few English Staffordshire potters still in business today. The company dates back to 1867 where it began in Hanley, one of the small towns that makes up Staffordshire. The wooden tray is recessed and the shallow blue piece fits perfectly inside.

Butter Dish: Though I am not certain which firm made this wood dish I am very confident it was made in the Sheffield region of England and probably had a small butter knife that went with this originally. Sheffield is known the world over for its stainless steel development that took hold in the early 19th Century. Many firms produced pieces like this and the wood bread and butter boards that are so highly collected today.
Measures: Wooden Butter Dish is 6" and Blue Willow Dish is 4" x about 1/2" deep
Condition: The wood piece is in sound, very good condition. The Blue Willow dish is excellent, free of chips, cracks or crazing.
